Historical Background
The first edition of CILAMCE was held in Rio de Janeiro in 1977, and the last edition was held in Porto (Portugal), June 2007.
The conference aims to create a forum in which engineers, researchers and students can exchange ideas and information about the computational methods, currently available systems and improvements in computer technology to solve various complex practical and theoretical engineering problems. The CILAMCE conference has played a major role in the dissemination of the most recent computational applications and computational developments in engineering among professionals, researchers and students of the Iberian Latin American community.
CILAMCE 2008, the 29th CILAMCE Conference, is being organized by the Graduate Program in Civil Engineering, of the Federal University of Alagoas - Brazil (UFAL).
The City
The population of Maceió has started on the eighteenth century, on the arrival of the European ships by Jaraguá's shore, natural anchorage where the wood from the littoral forest where shipped, and later on sugar. Nowadays Jaraguá is an important touristic place of Maceió, due to its large historic and cultural value.
Maceió still has a lot of the last century vile: old buildings, narrow streets, the friendly living of its inhabitants that on some neighborhood still put their chair by the front door for a night chat.
Located on a littoral environment, Maceió is famous due to its spectacular beauty. Standing between coconut palms, fens and a beautiful sea, everyone who visits go back home with some gorgeous memories. It is one of the most beautiful touristic places of Brazil, and its beaches and natural pools are among the attraction that must not be missed.
