The organizers are pleased to invite you to participate in the "ATOE'2008 Conference", which will be held prior to the CIGR International Conference of Agricultural Engineering and the 37th Brazilian Congress of Agricultural Engineering, between August 31st and September 4th in Foz do Iguaçu - PR Brazil. Following the successful of previous years, we intend to bring together researchers, producers and end users of Automation Technology for Off-Road Equipment, to shear their experience with their colleagues.
Automation Technology has taken the attention of many engineers involved with agriculture. The potential for automation in off-road equipments has increased and there are a number of agricultural practices where it could be applied. High-precision agriculture becomes a reality especially thanks to new localization technologies such as GPS, laser range scans and sonar. Within the last few years rapid improvement has taken place in this area, data and field busses in a standardized format are becoming available for many types of equipment, increasing the possibility of interchanging and reducing the investment cost and the dependence on the manufactures. Agricultural and Biological Engineers need to understand how the overall system can become more efficient in a sustainable way using this technology. Therefore this is a unique opportunity to get together and discuss the advances and new approaches in Automation Technology for off-road vehicles.
The potential topics which will be discussed during this meeting include autonomous vehicles, automatic guidance system, and equipment for off-road environment, machine vision, real time monitoring off-road equipment, robot farming and vehicle modeling.
