Fresh water and land are more and more scarce all over the world, both in quantity and quality, due to the increase in population and in the economic activity. Thus it is necessary to improve the planning and management in order to do a sustainable use of these resources. This fact implies to know better the different processes involved, and design tools and models to help in decision making.

The conservation of the environment and the reduction of possible risks for health, caused by direct and diffused pollution due to the more intensive use of these resources, calls into question local and regional development plans and strategies.

The Inter-Regional Conference EnviroWater'2008 attempts to be a meeting forum among scientists, engineers and/or managers of water, land and environment. The topics include all the strategies and technologies to improve the use and the sustainable management of resources in order to achieve an improvement in productivity and in sustainable rural development, but with no risks for health.

EnviroWater'2008 will be held in conjunction with CIGR's International Conference of Agricultural Engineering, and the 37th Brazilian Congress of Agricultural Engineering, August 31st to September 4th Iguassu Falls City - PR - Brazil.

  • WASTE MANAGEMENT: Use of wastewater in irrigated agriculture; Water treatment and reuse in domestic, industrial and agricultural water systems; Effects of the use of wastewater and sludge on both the soil and the crop; Effect of the use of wastewater on the irrigation systems.
  • WATER SYSTEMS USE AND CONTROL: Innovative approaches and tool for planning and management of water use; Integrated strategies for water saving; Remote sensing and GIS for monitoring and management of irrigated lands; On-farm water management: water conservation and irrigation water savings; New technologies for management of irrigation at plot level; Water users participatory management.
